Thoughts - Profit
For what is a person profited, if they shall gain the world, and lose their own soul?
I've been thinking a lot about this statement lately. I've been thinking about it because it is deeply representative of the argument I find myself utilizing in the face of those who support Trump based on a perceived Fiscal idea. There are a lot of people I know who are... "give him a chance" about Trump because they are seeing positive effects in the marketplace. They are seeing stock markets rise, bullish investments, lowering rates on interest.
But what is it to profit, to get a better investment rate of return, to make another five thousand dollars at the end of the fiscal year...if it is to turn your back on society. To turn your back on scruples. To profit at the sake of another, and maybe not just another, but every other.
Will you tell me that it is just fair play?
Will it still be fair play when you are the one being made profit of?

Drabbles - Fish and Robots
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. Build a robot to fish; do all men eat or do all men starve?

Life - Weird
Life - Weird
Don't you think it's weird? How we sometimes just walk right through other people's lives? This fleeting moment of almost contact for a minute, an hour, a day. This compounded entire other existence of memories, moments, words, and truths and we interact with that other for this minuscule thing. And then we're done.
And we might never see that person again?
Don't you think that's weird?

Musings - Difference
Musings - Difference
The idea that we kill each other over a difference of opinion about what happens after people die is both ironic and sad.

Thoughts - Alone in the Universe
Thoughts - Alone in the Universe
I think...the thought that humanity is the only thing in the universe, that we are completely alone out there is one of the most terrifying things.
What why? Why do you think it's terrifying to be alone?

Life - Ignorance
Life - Ignorance
You can't plead ignorance for the rest of your life. "I didn't know", and "no one ever told me", will only ever work for so long...At some point, you need to know, to research, to respect, and to understand.
Potential needs to become growth sooner or later, or else it is forever wasted.

Musings - On Gun Ownership
Musings - On Gun Ownership
What if, everyone in the world who was willing to pull a trigger had to take a shot in the chest. No kevlar, no shielding, no anything. What if anyone and everyone, who was willing to kill someone else had to take a hit first, had to know how it feels like, really how it feels like, before they could ever commit to the same action against others. Had to watch themselves bleed, had to deal with the pain, with the lasting damage, with the time it takes to get better, or the chance of not getting better. All before they could fire their own weapon.

Musings - Morning Tea
Musings - Morning Tea
The slow march of sun against glass as I watch light creep along my teacup. Monday morning and shadows fade away. We all have somewhere to be of pressing need.

Musings - Home
Musings - Home
"Hey so are you all settled in yet? Got the new place feeling like home?"
Sometimes, privately and in the wee hours of the night I worry that nowhere will ever really feel like home. I'm all settled in, unpacked and have all my 'stuff', but this isn't home. Actually where I sleep hasn't felt like home in years. They are just places, and space. Space to be confined by, defined by, and secreted away from the world in.
With the advent of the internet, I take the friends who want to be a part of my life with me. I rarely go a week without hearing Patrick's voice, my parents and sister call, my other friends leave messages on facebook, skype, twitter or my phone. I generally know the best way of getting in contact with most of my friends, and the ones who know...well they know I can always be found on most communication systems.
And the friends who are too busy, or don't want to communicate won't. That's the way life goes isn't it?

Quotes - Adventure
"The state of mind of a kid when he enters a cave alone must be realized in the game. Going in, he must feel cold air around him. He must discover a branch-off to one side and decide whether to explore it or not. Sometimes he loses his way."
-Shigeru Miyamoto

Life - Much To Offer
I don't have much to offer you. Except for what I write.
